Maida Vale's three Councillors have criticised proposals to put up a phone mast in the area. Operators Vodafone and O2 have applied to Westminster Council for planning consent to site the mast on the junction of Elgin Avenue, Lauderdale Road and Castellain Road. Despite the Council advising that consent for that location was unlikely to be granted, the operators have still decided to apply - and without consulting local residents first. "Many local residents were alarmed to hear about this application," said local Councillor Alastair Moss. "We will be objecting to these ill conceived plans in the strongest terms. The thought of a phone mast in this prominent residential location would be a blight on the Conservation Area. We promise to fight these plans on behalf of local residents."
