Pedicabs

Since being elected, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster Nickie Aiken has been calling for greater regulation of pedicabs.

Pedicabs are the only form of public transport in Westminster that are unregulated.

There is no requirement for their riders to undergo criminal record checks, nor is there any fare control and the majority of vehicles do not go through safety and maintenance checks.

Conservative-led Westminster City Council has supported Nickie's call for regulation. Many Councillors have received complaints about Pedicabs.

Nickie recently re-introduced a Bill to Parliament establishing a legislative framework for the regulation of pedicabs. The Bill’s Second Reading is scheduled to be this Friday. We will keep you updated on the passage of the Bill.

Yesterday, parliamentarians had the opportunity to discuss the regulation of pedicabs in a Westminster Hall debate. You can watch the debate here.
