St. Matthew's Primary School SW1, along with ten other Westminster primaries, now have designated pedestrian and cycle zones outside school main entrances at school drop-off and collection times, Monday to Friday in term times.
This follows trial closures over the past eighteen months which saw a rise in children walking and cycling to school and a fall in local Nitrogen Dioxide (NOX) levels.
St. James's Councillor Mark Shearer welcomed the confirmation of the St. Matthew's Primary School Street saying: "It is good to see that the Labour Council has implemented a key part of the Conservative City Council’s Active Streets Programme launched in August 2019."
