Westminster prevents unsightly telephone boxes being installed

Westminster Council has won an appeal made by Maximus Networks against its decision not to allow the installing of a number of call boxes including one in our area at 100 Marylebone Road, near to York Gate.

Often these boxes are used as simple vehicles for advertising. The Planning Inspectorate ruled in the Council’s favour stating that this box would cause clutter and erode the spacious qualities enjoyed at this location on the Marylebone Road.  As Cllr Swaddle commented "this is positive and clearly this box if installed would have harmed the character and appearance of the area".
