Melvyn Caplan

Melvyn has been a councillor for Little Venice Ward since 1990 and has lived in the area for more than 30 years.  He is currently Deputy Leader of the council and Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Regeneration.  He is a former leader of the council and has held a number of other Cabinet roles as well as chairing both Planning and Licencing committees.  He spent 25 years of his working career as an executive at IBM and now spends the majority of his week on council activity. He also serves on his local neighbourhood police committee. In his spare time, he enjoys going to the gym and watching most sports.

75th Anniversary of VE Day

This week, the Union Flag will fly outside Westminster City Hall to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday.

Refurbishment of Laptops, and Family-Activity Packs

The Conservative-controlled Westminster City Council has arranged for the refurbishment of two hundred decommissioned Council laptops. The laptops have been distributed to help vulnerable families hitherto without computers.

Warwick Avenue Canal Bridge Refurbishment

We are pleased to report that the two sides of the bridge on Warwick Avenue over the canal have both been repaired and are now been repainted. Significant structural repairs were needed following a vehicle damaging the bridge and this has now been completed.

Electric Avenue

There are now nearly 500 electric charging points in Westminster, a figure which is planned to more than double by the end of the year to over 1000. This is the highest number of charging points of any local authority in the UK.

Fleming Court and 5 Kingdom Street

Although major works to Westminster’s housing stock has now had to be paused, works were completed to Fleming Court prior to the lockdown. A new door entry system as well as security gate have been installed.

Little Venice Councillors join Westminster Connects' efforts

Your Little Venice Councillors have been working with the local Amenity Society, the Paddington Waterways and Maida Vale Society (W9W2), and Clifton Road business Raoul's to provide staff at St. Mary’s Hospital with delicious soup.

Lorraine Dean

Lorraine has lived in Little Venice since 1983 and ran a family electronics business on Edgware Road for 17 years. She now works locally at the City of Westminster college as a teaching assistant to young disabled adults.

Tony Devenish

Richard Elcho

Christabel Flight

Christabel Flight was elected to represent Warwick Ward in May 2006. She has held the following roles: acting as Westminster's Older Peoples Champion, editor of Westminster Plus for Westminster's 25,000 freedom pass holders.

Peter has lived in the ward for over 20 years and is an active member of the local community.  

Murad Gassanly

First elected in 2014 and representing Churchill Ward in Pimlico, Murad joined the Conservative Group at the City of Westminster Council in July 2017. He is a freelance political consultant, specialising in energy politics in the Caspian Sea region.

Jonathan Glanz

Jonathan Glanz has lived and worked in the West End for many years. 

He was Chairman of the Marylebone Association and within the Council has served as a Cabinet Member for Housing and Property and Deputy Cabinet Member for Parking. 

Jim Glen

Jim has lived in Pimlico for 25 years and was elected to the Council to represent Tachbrook Ward in 2018.  He is currently Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing Services.

Matthew Green

Cllr Green was elected to the council, representing Little Venice ward, in May 2018. After graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in French and Russian, he spent a number of years in diplomatic postings in Japan and Ukraine.

Lindsey Hall

Lindsey Hall has lived in W9 for 35 years and represented the Abbey Road Ward since 2007.  Having stood twice as the Conservative Party's Parliamentary Candidate in 2015 and 2017 for the Westminster North Constituency, she has become a familiar face in the area and is well-known for her pro-activ
