Save St Mary's Hospital

The previous government was committed to the desperately needed complete rebuilding of St Mary’s Hospital Paddington. The release of money for planning and design works was in the final stage of being approved and had the full support of the then Conservative Secretary of State and Hospitals Minister.

During the July election campaign, the Labour Party committed to the rebuild, too.

Indeed, Wes Streeting, now Secretary of State for Health and Social Care made the commitment alongside the Labour candidates and now Labour MPs for Cities of London & Westminster and for Kensington & Bayswater, Rachel Blake and Joe Powell.

That’s why it’s completely shocking and unacceptable to hear that this government has put the rebuilding of St Mary’s under review until further notice.

You can read Wes Streeting's shocking letter to MPs, which puts St Mary's under review here.

St Mary’s is at high risk of major building failure within four to seven years.

Ceilings are collapsing. Leaks are non-stop. And wards are having to be closed.

St Mary’s can no longer deliver the 21st-century healthcare staff and patients deserve.

The hospital is haemorrhaging £10m per year on repairs, meaning much-needed funding for innovation, new equipment and upgraded facilities is being diverted.

People living in Westminster, Kensington, Chelsea and Fulham don’t deserve to have major operations cancelled or face hours-long waiting times. They deserve state-of-the-art facilities, and that’s what the Labour Party promised.

That’s why we're calling on the Secretary of State and the Labour Party to stand by their election promise and ensure the rebuild of St Mary’s is out of scope for review.

However, we will only ensure that our hospital gets the rebuild it needs if we campaign together. So, join our campaign by completing the form below.
