Caring and supporting the most vulnerable, young and old, across Westminster is, and will always remain, our most important priority.
Under Conservative leadership, our Council has achieved and maintained an ‘Outstanding’ rating for its Children’s Services, supported moving hundreds of people off our streets and founded the MyWestminster support community projects.
We are committed to ensuring Westminster remains the most socially mobile local authority in the UK – providing opportunities for everyone to thrive regardless of their start in life.
We will:
- Build stronger connections with everyone living in Westminster, based on all our experiences during the pandemic, by building on the work of Westminster Connects.
- Help vulnerable elderly residents, including those with dementia, stay in their own homes, wherever possible, throughout their lives.
- Develop and improve the support our City gives to rough sleepers, helping them to turn their lives around.
- Extend our innovative City Lions programme, creating opportunities for our City’s young people to get involved in cultural and creative opportunities.
- Deliver the most inclusive and flexible library service in the UK, continuing our record of investing in our libraries. Westminster invests more money in its libraries per resident than any other local authority in the country.
- Continue implementing the new national standard safety upgrades to all Council housing and continue our affordable homes building programme to give more people the opportunity to buy their own home in our City.
- Use changes proposed in the Government’s Housing White Paper so that Housing Associations improve their services to tenants in Westminster.
