Westminster Bridge - Tackling Crime in St James

The high footfall on Westminster Bridge each day, especially thousands of tourists, makes it a favourite location for illegal activities.

In particular, the selling of unlicensed street food and the “three cup trick” game.

In March, a coordinated operation took place between Westminster Council City Inspectors and the Police from both Westminster and Lambeth. In this operation four people were arrested for illegal street trading, and one person was issued with a Community Protection Notice. Subsequent patrols have led to two arrests.

Cllr Louise Hyams said "I’m delighted we have seen the police from both Westminster and Lambeth come together to sort out the concerning situation on Westminster Bridge. The sustained operations should rid the bridge of these activities for the time being." Please tell us about any illegal activities by emailing us: stjames@westminsterconservatives.com
